Woke up to the rain tapping not so gently on my window and a migraine to boot...a far cry from the last few days at the Esperanza in Cabo San Lucas. Four days of sun and sand wrapped in the most luxurious of packages has swiftly come to a halt.

Today's only redemption, listening to Vampire Weekend's Contra, which provided the soundtrack for the weekend, is transporting me back to the beach front cabana, a margarita and humpback whales jumping in the distance. Bliss....for a cold, rainy moment.

In spite of the slight heat wave that we have had the past week, we are in the dead of winter. Sub zero temps leave little desire to put together a look that will most likely spend most of the evening layered under winter accoutrement.

Rather than spending time on whats going on under, get creative with whats going on over.

Today's edition: beanies (leave the pom poms at home)
The beanie had made major resurgence the past few years and is no longer just for hippie types. The key is to let just enough hair—sideburns or other— peeking out to avoid looking like a 12 year old. Bonus points for a little stubble.

It was probably two years ago that I came across The Sartorialist blog on a recommendation of a friend. I was done for, since the first day, I have been a loyal follower, not only for the photographs but also for the conversations that the images started. In my mind, clothing yourself is the one thing that all walks of life can relate to, whether it be out of necessity or as a form of self expression, and Scott Schuman created a platform for such discussions.

Sitting in my car on a rainy June day, I chatted up Scott Schuman (aka The Sartorialist) on his upcoming book, travel and just how he defines his own personal style. A delight to talk to, I couldn't believe that I was discussing street fashion with the man who put it on the map! Definitly one of those once in a lifetime opportunities.

I am not going to make a point of drawing attention to poor choices (or lack of knowledge) when it comes to a man dressing himself. I would rather affirm, or suggest ways to improve a look.

That said, I have noticed this type of shoe on too many men not to say anything.

Unless you are in the service industry (which this gentleman was not) these shoes do nothing but look heavy and rather blah! Instead, opt for something a sleeker and minus the padded ankle surrounds.

Just sayin'.

Man of Style: Paul Newman (1925-2008)

With a career that spanned the better half of a century, there is no doubt that Paul Newman's style has evolved throughout. Newman's on-screen signature was a tight undershirt and slacks, along with Steve McQueen and other 60's stars, typically accessorized with a cigarette and a glass of bourbon. Paul was the type that tuxedos were made for, even if he preferred a simple pair of trousers and classic buttondown.

After winning the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 1993, Newman burned the tuxedo, stating that he would never wear black tie again. Leading Newman to give the remainder of his wardrobe away, claiming that a simpler life is a happier life. This proving best that true style doesn't need to be of the moment, trendy or even expensive, it should represent the wearer. In Paul's case, a wardrobe of selflessness, compassion and humility.

Note: Months ago, when reading GQ's 50 Most Stylist Men issue, I jotted down Paul Newman's name as inspiration for a future posting. Not only a true man of style, but an individual who gave selflessly for so many years. I have had the opportunity to meet Paul, and be a part of the camps that were his brainchild. I know I don't speak only for myself when I say thank you, for the life that you lead has changed mine. I could not think of a better time to honor him.

When it comes to facial hair on a man, I never really cared for it. That is until recently. I am unsure if previously I was just exposed to pubecent boys that couldn't grow in a full beard, or TV screens smattered with Spencer Pratt's flesh tone beard, or even Ashton Kutcher's spotty beard that never seemed to fill out, that lead to my previous dislike-- but something has caused a drastic change of heart.

Through out history, facial hair has represented a sign or maturity and has been the show horse for those of high social status, or even been a matter of necessity in keeping the face warm during harsh winters. That said, its no wonder that when the first signs of puberty hit, boys start growing in their peach fuzz, even if it looks terrible.

When I recently asked a friend of mine what inspired his new beard, he told me that GQ told him that it was the new "in" thing and judging by the amount of young men jumping on the bearded bandwagon, I would say that said friend is right on track.

So..."in" thing or not, a few rules are necessary.

1. If you facial hair is the same color as your skin, facial hair is not for you. Try accessorizing your face with glasses, or even a hat.

2. Never, and by never...i mean never, shave along your jawline to "clean up" your beard. By "cleaning up", you also just fattened up- drawing attention to your double chin. Rather, trim it..leaving some scruff to cover up that baby weight.

3. Be adventurous. If you have mastered the beard....venture off to the Fu Man Choo, or the handlebar mustache. Use this as a platform for individual expression, it is a guaranteed conversation piece.

4. If your facial hair growing in resembles a flea circus more than a beard, mustache, whatever....it may come in with time, but the growing in process can be distracting, and look lazy.

Also, the human body is as good a platform as any to get your point across (as long as the tee doesn't say "save a wave, ride a surfer" or something ass-like.)

Stylish, provocative, and sexy-- one of the HOTTEST shows this summer (I have yet to watch) is sparking a flashback in fashion for both sexes. Donning skinny suits, skinny ties and always nursing a scotch and water, the leading men of Mad Men are the driving forces behind this Retro Redux.

Uber producer Mark Ronson takes his influence from an earlier era in both his personal style as well we with some of the artists that he has launched to the top of the charts.

Enter: Amy Winehouse (pre the deranged shirtless days)

Interior designers are also taking note of the sleek and sexy lines of Mad Men set, and bringing mid-century modern to the masses.

Potter's Bar, pictured above, is the newly designed watering hole at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago. Imagine lounging on buttery leather while listening to Miles Davis or John Coltrane, yes... these "Mad Men" have it great.

A "murse" by any other name....

While this is a trend that is slowly starting to grow within the Twin Cities, larger cities have been accepting of messenger bags, unisex carryalls, "murses" or man bags, mostly derived from the functionality standpoint of commuter cities. With more and more Minneapolitains taking to the buses, are we ready to be a part of the "murse" generation?

Over cocktails and french fries last night with two new (and very stylish) friends, I have to be honest that I found myself shocked when they both used the word "murse" several times. Yes, this is a term that those of us in the industry throw around with little caution...but it was a bit off to hear it in the real world. It makes me wonder, would more men carry a "murse" or a "man bag" if it was called something else- something less embarrassing?

While I was working the other night, a couple friends of mine were discussing former trends that we all took part in. The acid wash jeans, the hightops and tube socks, tightrolling our jeans so tight that our circulation was compromised.

American Apparel has long been drawing influence from decades past, including the return of one of my favorite 80's trend, the Hypercolor tee shirt. Of course, that is not what they are calling it, because that would be copyright infringement (AND they are still in trouble from the whole Woody Allen billboard incident) Nonetheless, here it is.......

I am still unsure why a shirt that shows when your body heat is rising is popular, but apparently the magic of temperature sensitive pigments is still drawing in the masses.

Raising Hemlines.

Throughout the season, I have been seeing the hemlines on pants creep their way up the leg, now we are starting to see the same on men's jackets.

I might shudder if I ever see a 3/4 sleeve on a man, but the careful "juj-ing" of a man's sleeve up to his mid arm is starting to catch my attention.

Much like a button down shirt, the blazers and sport-coat sleeves can be easily pushed up the arm for a more carefree, casual look.

PS. My apologies for not posting more frequently. Work has consumed my days and nights recently. I will make more of an effort, thanks fro checking back.

Keeping with the theme of Lake Como Chic, I am very much in lust with this look.

Cardigans have not seen this much play since our favorite middle school teacher donned one nearly every episode. Unlike Mr. Feeney, the look has modernized and has been carried over in to the summer months. Lucky us, since it seems unlikely at this point if we will be able to go out this summer with out a light weight layering piece.

Have I told you about my thoughts on Lake Como Chic? Well, I am not sure if I was the one to coin this movement in fashion- or if I heard of this though the grapevine, but at any-rate Lake Como Chic should be at the top of your list.

Not only a look, but an air about a man- effortless, cool, sarcastic and yet polite, this man is the one you want to hang with, the one you slightly envy... think Frank Sinatra- or George Clooney.

The key to achieving the look, is to honestly not try too hard. Italians never "dress down" as Americans do, and they have perfected the art of mixing and matching. Taking a casual friday staple like the polo shirt, and throwing it under a blazer (even a cordoroy one like above) looks less stifled than a dress shirt and has become the trend du jour this summer.

Try it at your next outdoor fete! (maybe even try the look with a pair of khaki shorts-cuffed of course- and some driving mocs....but only if you're daring)

Typically, the long memorial day weekend signifies bringing out the board shorts or trunks (as I recommend) and hitting the pool. But if any of you were in town this weekend, you bore witness to the chilling temps and wild storms that we are used to seeing in April, resulting in a bit of a canundrum this AM when it came to getting dressed.

What is one to do when it is 40 degrees when leaving for work, and about 70 when arriving back home? The 30 degree swing can be a challenge for the fashion novice and even seasoned style makers.

A little layering can make all the difference and allow you to pack away the wool suit and chunky cardigans. Urban, Gap, Ivy and LD Man are all stocking up on featherweight cardigans and sweaters- perfect for days like today.

All right, all right...it may seem unfair to post my brother on here. But when a guy demonstrates finely tuned style knowledge, (wether or not he is related to me) I will acknowledge it.

As seen here, Patrick took evidence from his surrounds (the preppy grounds of George Washington University) as inspiration for his library cardigan and classic cut khaki's. Now, bringing "The End of Poverty" by Jeffery Sachs, as a little light reading for the graduation ceremony- may have taken intellectual chic a little far. Let's stick to the clothes next time!

I don't know if this is the place to head for your first suit, for I can't imagine that an online store will offer tailoring to fit- even if it is called The Tailor. A good friend and I were talking the other night about what he should wear to Steeplechase, a horse raise held every year in Nashville. Any who have witnessed the hat parade at the Derby- know that what you wear says everything. The previous weekend, he rocked a white linen suit, floral pocket square and a mustache that could have won him the title of "Phillip Seymore Hoffman look-alike." So, the goal was to top that. I suggested he try a porkpie hat, he suggested one of the former "vote-for button" hats- come to realize that we were both describing the same hat.

The porkpie was made popular by vaudville comedians (like Buster Keaton) and countless jazz musicians and has recently reemerged with the growing popularitiy of toppers- and being worn by trendsetters looking to have something different from the fedora or straw panama hat. You can find them locally at Heimie's Haberdashery in St. Paul.

Somewhere on my life list, I have it stated that I want to be invited to the Met Gala to benefit the Costume Institute. Being that the invitations are more coveted than Super Bowl tickets, and attendees are hand selected by Anna Wintour, I am hoping that one day- I may be able to cover the event.

It is the who's who of the entertainment and fashion industry under one roof and always promises looks to lust after. With a theme for each year, the crowd pays homage to the influences of design and entrainment on the fashion industry.

I will tell anyone, I am an AVID people watcher. To be completely honest- that it all started in a more judgmental manner. Straying from that now, I am so intrigued by cultures, mannerisms, relationships, and body language. My post as a hostess at “my neighborhood brassiere” several nights a week, is extremely fitting for a gal of my interests. Anyone who works in the restaurant industry will tell you, we see all kinds.

Last night, I was witness to a very interesting interaction between a young lady (who had imbibed a little too much liquid courage) and a darling young man. She had been eying several of our (openly gay) servers through out the night, but when Mr. X walked in, she knew she was lust. What she didn’t know before she approached him asking to buy him a drink …was that he was with his wife and parents. While trying to contain my laughter, I was super impressed with how he handled himself- introducing his wife and family, and thanking her for her compliment.

Whether you are gay, straight, committed or single and just not interested, if a woman courageously approaches you with the intent of getting to know you a little better, let her down very gently. Even though it was most likely brought on by booze, I admire and am impressed by the amount of gumption it took to go after exactly what she wanted.

It is a rare day that I will post two references to the Gap, but that is apparently about to change. One of my (and seemingly the world's) favorite blogger, Scott Schuman (a.k.a The Sartorialist) was shot yesterday for the new Fall 08 Gap Ads.

Any of you who read your DNR or any other fashion industry publication, know that Patrick Robinson has officially taken over as creative head for the Gap, and according to Scott...he has put a brought fashion back into the house of khaki.

When it is stated by the man who Time Magazine has named one of the top 100 design influencers...I'll buy it. The first delivery of the new duds hits stores this month.

For good portion of my life I have been paying attention to the style of different groups of people, and trying to attempt to capture the style myself (albeit, most of the time I got it horribly wrong.) Now I realize that many of my mistakes were just me being ahead of my time, and have in a completely backwards way....landed me in a career doing exactly that, studying the trends of groups of people and recreating the look on others.

Recently, I (and many others) have been drawing inspiration from an unlikely group, snowbirds. Back in the day, I used to sit in church and scoff at the amount of what my mother coined as "Full Clevelands," wearing both white shoes and a white belt, and "Half Cleavlands," only wearing one or the other; when I was taught that wearing white before labor day was a big no no.

Color me suprised when the thing that used to ammuse me during church would become a white hot trend for Spring 08. Although, I'm unsure to how long it will last, right now.... the (full or half) Cleveland rocks!

In the magazine industry, we have to work several months ahead of schedule in order to get the items to press and delivered on time.

Pros: I have the advantage on knowing current trends before most people and getting to spend the entire day outside on the first nice day of Spring.

Cons: Having to fake that it is June when there is still ice on Lake Harriet (and no leaves on trees), or Christmas in October, or Spring in December. That, and the fact that I am usually over a seasons trends before the season even starts. Take notice of the cardigan, Hane's v-neck tee, and the vintage chambray shirt, some of my faves for the summer.

Here are a few sneak peeks as to what we are working on for June. For all looks, make sure to pick up the June issue of Minneapolis/St. Paul Magazine.

Andrew and I are attempting to wrangle Maggie, my sister's dog that she so generously lent to me for the day. I am not sure if this is before or after she stole half the loaf of bread out of the picnic basket.

Did you hear, Gavin Rossdale has gone solo??? I stumbled across the single while browsing new music Tuesday on iTunes...and was a little sceptical of his ballad writing abilities, and the 30 clip of Love Remains the Same didn't leave much to be desired.

Maybe is was pure exhaustion last night, but I heard it again on the radio... and nearly caught my self singing along. Its no Glycerine...but maybe my love for Mr. Rossdale remains the same.

Famed Americana designer, Ralph Lauren, is set to design the wardrobe for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics. In years past, the role of outfitting the greatest of American athletes has fallen upon Roots, a company based out of Toronto. Apparently this year, the US Olympic Committee is looking to embrace the quintessential American look by calling on its golden boy.

In addition to the wardrobe for the opening/closing ceremonies, Lauren has been commissioned to create what they are coining as "Village Wear," for athletes to wear during their down time in, you guessed it, The Olympic Village!

What's next, little surgical/pollution masks emblazoned with the RL logo for the athletes to wear?

I'm wondering....will Ralph bring home the gold?

Urban Outfitters has always done a great job at reinventing vintage faves, and even taking used clothing from unwearable to desirable. But I am afraid that this crosses the (thick, black, not to be crossed) line.

Even though there is a subculture out there that will wear anything the grab attention (even if they pretend not to care). If you are a part of that select group, stick to the originals. Head over to your local Salvation Army, or ARC and you might even find a tee shirt with a bald eagle, or baby sea lion on it. Bonus, no one else will have it!

Unless I was missing something, I thought that Banana Republic was a go-to when it came to wearing the classics. You know, the "I've procrastinated to the last second before finding something to wear to my friend's wedding" store. That said, I was a bit suprised to read on Fashionista that the retail chain had come up with a new line to appeal to their Classic Shopper.

Perhaps feeling the need to keep up with the J. Crew Collectors and Vintage lines and Brooks Brothers' partnership with Thom Browne, Banana has introduced their Monogram Collection. The collection is filled with cashmere suits and sweaters, crisp button downs and slim shorts, classics (recreated in current silhouettes) that could be easily incorporated into any man's wardrobe.

At least that is what Keith Dorsett of Elsworth is hoping. After a strong career in the menswear department of Macy’s, Keith decided to take his extensive knowledge of men's fashion and open his own store. Funny enough, it’s only a stones throw away from his former stomping ground ( just through the men’s shoe department and across the skyway.)

Elsworth joins the likes of Len Druskin Man and Ivy Man + Design in the resurgence of mens stores opening downtown. Keith is excited about bringing shopping back to the downtown area and is hoping the trend continues. "It is not going to be an over night transformation, but I'm in it for the long haul."

Elsworth is currently stocked with John Varvatos suits, Ted Baker ties, and some FANTASTIC silver dress shoes from Kenneth Cole. Head on over, and prove Keith's (and James Earl Jones') theory to be correct.

There has always been something charming about things in my life that get better, more comfortable, more familiar with each use. I find that the same charm applies to clothing.

Sure, the excitement of a new shirt, or pair of jeans is a wonderful thing. But it doesn't relpace the feeling of slipping on that pair of jeans that have fit perfectly for years, and instantly make you feel like a million.

Designers are drawing on the nostalgic feeling that we all crave and recreating classics, and even wearing them in for us. I'm not talking the "Abercrombie" worn in, but a more graceful approach that doesn't make you look like a tween.

Most recently we have seen a resurgence of the chambray shirt playing into the whole Blue Collar trend.

Its not the easiest thing to wear, especially when paired with jeans,

the whole blue on blue can get a little confusing.

For ease, look for a lightweight chambray and pair with cuffed khakis-

or even a pair of linen pants.

Try pairing a chambray shirt, under your gray suit for a more 9-5 friendly look.

No need to be bland this spring. No matter if you are a conservative dresser, or one who flaunts the latest trends- there is something out there for everyone. Pick a few colors that will coexist with your wardrobe, and will help bring you out of the winter in style.

On a daily basis, I carry about 5 magazines with me. Not only do I get a mini workout while toting around 10 lbs. of the latest trends in fashion, literature and music, but I am never short on reading material.

Earlier today, while rummaging around for my latest copy of Details…I found myself wondering, “What is that smell?” I know what you’re thinking- and no it wasn’t some part of my lunch from a week ago that I never got around to- put a more pleasant smell.

I flipped through the pages searching for the culprit of making my bag smell so…well, sexy! But my discovery was a little unexpected, the combination of Bvlgari Aqua (for men) and Gucci by Gucci (for women) was delightful!

I have know a few women that prefer the muskiness of a man’s cologne…but would you wear a woman’s perfume?

If you are like 90% of the men in this city, you wear clothing that is way too big for you.

I am not saying that you should run out and invest in a full spandex outfit (a' la Eddie Murphy in the Nutty Professor) but your clothes should not look like you are swimming in them. Not only does it look sloppy, you look bigger than you actually are.

In this months GQ, they have picked men off the street and given them the oppertunity to upgrade their look. Pulling them out of their business casual slump, the editors of GQ made these men look smart and put together (and also nearly unrecognizable.)

Although I can't offer an upgrade, there are a few simple ways to amp up your look.

With pants or trousers- look for a slimmer leg and AVOID pleats. Sorry if this crushes you, but pleated khakis are not cool.
With a blazer- go down in the size until the seam hits your shoulder points.
With a casual shirt or button down- the bottom of the shirt should be long enough to tuck in without going past your hip points and should graze your torso without being tight.

I promise that I will not make a habit out of posting a women's look, as an inspiration for men. That said, I was reading yesterday that Faran (of Fashionista.com) while in London, noticed that the current demand in mens coiffure is that of Ms. Deyn.

Although, Agyness' look is completely androgynous- I can't imagine spotting a hairstyle on that of the opposite sex, and wanting to make it my own.

Best of all, these pixie haired boys have even coined a term for themselves- we'll see if the "Ag Hags" make their way stateside.

I am not lying when I say that I have hunted for this bag. After seeing a friend with one, and (in my ignorance) assuming that it was a limited edition item from L.L. Bean, I searched for options that mimicked the bag that I had totally crushed on.

I went to army surplus stores from Florida, to New York, to Minnesota and always walked away empty handed, never finding the perfect balance preppy and edgy- and unexpected twist. Lo and behold- while researching the boat shoe piece....I FOUND IT!!! Sure enough, hidden underneath the "Hunting and Fishing" tab on llbean.com was my bag! Ranging in price from $19 to $30, this is the perfect bag for a weekend away- or toting your waterfoul as the website lists as a use!!!

For years, the boat shoe has been a staple of the both the upwardly mobile and old money alike. Designed with the practicality of a non-slip shoe for the deck of a sailboat in mind, the Sperry Top-Sider (designed in 1935) has become the cornerstone of nautical style. Other brands, Rockport and Tommy Bahama, have followed suit designing their own interpretations of the classic.

After years of the same, tired visage- the boat shoe has been revived and given a facelift. No longer for Zach Morris types only, the range of color is reaching out to the masses and should be embraced.

A more daring color choice, but the burnt orarnge could complement your summer tan quite smartly. What to wear with orange? Stay safe with earth tones- but I would love to see this with turquoise. Maybe I'm crazy!

With such a blue scene happening for Spring, whats not to love about these?

It might be a stretch to try these with blue jeans, but possibly with a pair of white chinos or linen pants. If you are daring, give the new "tight roll" a try. (See my third entry)

Try these with an off-beat pair of plaid shorts and a Hanes v-neck for summer ease.

Although not the first I have seen of its kind, I think that this is the first time I'm seeing a department store stand behind it. What do you think? I could see the short suit gracing the sweltering streets of New York this coming summer, but I am not sure Minneapolis is ready.

If you are daring enough to try, make sure that you have a base tan (no pasty ankles please), that you choose the correct footwear (i.e. converse, vans or perhaps a lightweight driving moc), and you chose the right arena to debut such trend (your conservative 9-5 may not be the best place.)

With the fast approaching spring comes melting ice, and lets face it the trashing of your pant hems. Rather than chock it up to the war wounds of the season- tuck half of your pant legs in the inside of a pair of combat boot (or other rugged footwear) and rock out one of my favorite "I'm not trying too hard" looks. Your pants will thank you.

Style tip: Make sure that the boots of your choice hit right above the ankle.

Initially intrigued, the printed blazer...the billowing pants, and then I blurted out "Are those Crocs???????" Indeed I think they are, as given away by the signature toe vents.

I understand the demand for such comfort, but couldn't Stefano Pilati sucked it up for his runway appearance?

Apparently with the release of the 25th Anniversary of Thriller, middle age men through out the Minneapolis skyway system are embracing their inner Michael Jackson. In my brief walk from my parking garage to my office, I saw three, yes...three men wearing white socks with black loafers.

Don't get me wrong, the idea that the King of Pop is still putting out records is fantastic- but these "Skyway moon walkers" have taken it too far. That is unless they are having a lunch time dance party!!! Hmm....

When Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova arrived at the Oscars last night, I nearly didn’t recognize them. Glen, looking dapper in what I am guessing as Dior Homme, was almost unrecognizable- cleaned up scruff, hair done and ditched the indie duds for Couture.

But when they took the stage at last nights Oscars, I was floored. Not only was I pumped that they were performing, but Glen had changed into what he was comfortable in, and ditched the tux for a more casual suit.

The look was homespun and perfect- leather cords tied around his wrists and toting his much used guitar- with the charm and talent that won us over in “Once.” Well done Glen! (and Marketa too!) Make Art!

If you always listened to your mother, than you know that when the cold months come around- that a hat on your head will keep your body heat in and the doctor away. While that is sound advice, I always felt bad for the “stepchild” of winter garb. This year, the scarf is getting the recognition it deserves.

Although a little shy, Jason obliged to be the first "Detail Oriented" man of InDetail. I met Jason and his wife at the Best of the Best Party, held at the Walker last night.

It was the graphic hoodie that really caught my eye first. But then after talking to Jason for a bit- I started to notice all the other pieces of the ensemble- the blazer, the hoodie, the tie, atop a well fitting pair of jeans- and how well they all worked together. I walked away thinking that more guys should really take notice to the artful skill of layering (well!)

I passed a very dapper looking gentleman in the skyway wearing an argyle sweater vest. Which raises the question- Are sweater vests cool? This winter I have seen very few men able to pull off this formerly nerdy look with ease. I would even go as far as saying that they looked cool. Mr. Skyway paired his vest with a crisp striped button down and navy trouser. Although the vest caught my attention, it was the converse sneaks hidden at the bottom of his otherwise preppy outfit that made me smile. Well done!

"No, its a cardigan...but thanks for noticing!"

I typically have a hard time shopping for my brother and this christmas was no exception. Everything that I have gotten for him, has either been too small (in his opinion), or too bulky (in my opinion). I had nearly given up on the idea that I could help him channel his inner style through my christmas presents. Then it hit me- if I could convince him of the trend that I was trying to push in the store, where the sales staff would be there to back me up, he may actually pick up on it.

At this point I have to mention, that my brother is the best dressed young man that I know and is fabulous at picking up on trends himself. However, he tends to be a little hesitant on my more fashion forward suggestions. This christmas' push- a cardigan. These formerly dowdy sweaters that used to be worn solely by grandpa and Mr. Rogers have re-emerged this spring as the must have classic. Locally, you can find great ones at J. Crew (shown above in hunter and navy stripe), Urban Outfitters and even the Gap. Dress it up with a button down, or dress it down with a Hanes v-neck.

As I was watching the Super Bowl last night, something kept catching my attention. It wasn't the massive R & M that Moss has tattooed on his arms (which is beyond me), nope...It was the fact that 2 out of the four commentators are embracing the new trend in pocket squares. Not only that, but when the camera scanned up to the box where the other Manning was sitting- he was wearing it too!

Pocket squares, once old and slightly out dated, have been given a new breath of life. Rather than showing the three points of a square as most of your fathers have done- it is now being worn flat and true to its name- a square. The key thing to remember if you are daring to embrace this trend as well, only let 1/4 of an inch peek out.

My brother (and men's trend sounding board) recently asked me what exactly defined a skinny suit. A look the Beatles made famous decades ago had reemerged on the runways of New York, Paris and Milan. Donning a fitted jacket and skinny pant leg, models on the spring runway are showing us that even men's fashion comes full circle.

Other than being a HUGE trend appearing on the Spring 08 runways of Calvin Klein, DKNY (shown), and Ralph Lauren, the "skinny suit" or "European cut suit" is a surprisingly easy fit for many men. Though the doubtful may think that a skinny won't make them look their best, go ahead and try a slim cut pant leg versus a skinny pant leg. The look will be suprisingly slimming. If designer duds are not within your budget, look for skinny suits by Kenneth Cole or Material London, both available at Macy's.

Style tip: Wear the suit with either a skinny tie, or go sans tie.
